Nearly 100 articles, 40 writers and 1,200 subscribers – now help us keep going

The Left Lane has grown faster than we dared hope. But to keep doing what we’re doing for the next two years, we need your help.

When we launched The Left Lane on May Day this year, we did so with a sense of optimism and a clear purpose – to build a genuinely independent, community-driven news and opinion platform for the left, with no billionaire owners and no editorial strings attached. Six weeks in, the progress we’ve made has exceeded even our own expectations.

We’ve now published approaching 100 articles, covering everything from UK politics to international affairs, left movement news to climate, housing and the economy. More than 40 writers are contributing to the site – many of whom had never written for a publication before – and our twice-weekly newsletter now goes out to around 1,200 subscribers. We’re covering the stories that matter to the left, with the depth, honesty and radical edge that the mainstream media simply won’t provide.

None of this happens by accident. It takes time, commitment and, yes, money. Our running costs are modest – we have no fat salaries, no corporate overheads – but they’re real. That’s why we’re asking you, our readers and supporters, to help us secure The Left Lane’s future by donating to our GoFundMe fundraiser.

We’ve already raised £1,264 towards our increased £2,000 target. That’s a brilliant start – but we need to reach that target and beyond if we’re going to keep publishing, keep growing and keep the left’s voice loud and clear in the debates that matter. Every pound donated goes directly towards keeping the site running for the next two years.

Politics is moving fast – in Britain and internationally. The left needs media that can keep up, that can report, analyse and agitate without fear or favour. The Left Lane is that platform. But we can only sustain it with your support.

If you can afford to donate – even a small amount – please do so now via our GoFundMe page. And whether or not you can donate, please keep writing for us, keep sharing our articles and keep telling people about The Left Lane.

Together, we’re building something worth fighting for.
